My Teaching Philosophy
Every child has the right to learn and achieve to the best of their ability. As their teacher I am in a position to create the learning opportunities for students to achieve their full potential.
I believe that children learn best when they feel confident in themselves and their surroundings. As a teacher my role is to create a safe and encouraging environment for each child, one where every child feels motivated to achieve educational goals. I work to establish a positive relationship with each child, to encourage them to have the confidence to take risks and push themselves to learn to the best of their abilities.
Children are naturally enthusiastic, curious creatures and by providing challenging and engaging learning experiences they will achieve set educational outcomes. These experiences must be student centred to promote learning that is purposeful and enduring. My teaching provides opportunities for camaraderie, discussion and cooperative problem solving which lays the foundation for learning in the 21st century.
Appropriate student behaviour is an essential part of a positive learning environment. Managing classroom behaviour requires positive and trusting relationships between the teacher and the students, and a willingness to show respect to all.
Experience has taught me to remain patient, calm and confident wherever possible while teaching. With encouragement children will develop independence and begin to take responsibility for their learning.
